Regionals

At the end of each season, a regional tournament is held. This page will help to describe what happens at the regional conference. The regional conference is usually held at either Three Rivers or Sturgis. There will be 8 teams participating at the event and they will be based on the schools closest to you that are in your same MSAA division. The teams can vary from year to year based on student populations increasing or decreasing from the previous year. To "win" regionals, we team must score the most points, or score 18 points total, if we do, then we go to the state competition. You earn a point by winning a match against opponents from the other schools in a match, and your opponent is selected randomly. This is similar to an invitational, but there is a slight difference. If you lose at any point at the regional, you do not play another match. This means that the teams that score 18 points will be only 1 or 2 teams at most, or none at all. If you are defeated, you are expected to cheer on other players during their match, and to make sure they do not need any water or medicine while on the court. Finally, if you win all of your matches for that day, you get a medal even if your team does not advance to the state competition. After regionals, a banquet is held and a video is displayed. This banquet is held to say farwell to any seniors and to celebrate the end of the season. A link to the video from this year is presented below.
