There are two main factors that are causing the population of bees, climate change and pesticides. Climate change is causing temperatures to rise all around the world, which is only heating the world up by a few degrees, but this cuts down the number of possible bee habitats drastically. The use of neonicotinoids in herbicides, fungicides and pesticides is the other main factor contributing to a loss in bee population.
The main goal of the National Protective Services of Bee Kind (NPSBK) is to increase the population of all species of bees. Bees are a large factor in all ecosystems are around the world and without them, the spread of pollination would come to an alarming stop. To achieve our goal, the funding of bee habitats, and influencing a ban on neonicotinoids are essential. Bee habitats or areas preserved for bees would allow bees to safely make nests and repopulate. We are going to make sure that the areas that the habitats are built in are funded and stay well maintained. To stop the rapid decline in the population of bees, we would need to start with the main chemical that has proven fatal to bees, neonicotinoids. According to multiple studies, this dangerous chemical is used through a pesticide, which is then absorbed by the plant through the ground. The plant then produces pollen with neonicotinoids in it, and when bees gather that pollen, they are poisoned. We at the NPSBK are currently drafting a proposal to create a ban on neonicotinoids which will help to stop the poisoning of these amazing creatures.
